a plugin for efs support is now at

https://github.com/jtriley/StarCluster/issues/542

improvements necessary, but this seems to solve this major part

Sounds like this plugin could be used to mount the new elastic file system.
The EFS appears like an nfs mount.  Is this the approach others have used?

Thank you Jacob, this is indeed a solid solution.

I wonder however if there's any way to change the configuration of an
existing cluster:
i.e. - when I change the configuration file, (e.g. add volume) and restart
(start -x) an existing cluster, the configuration isn't updated.
