Commentary on their suffering represented a meaningful event in the conceptualization of the human body as the planetary entity: circumnavigation offered their scorbutic bodies as evidence that humans were terrestrial creatures, physically suited to the earthly parts of a terraqueous globe.</font></font></p><div>
