In conjunction with his forthcoming publication The Venetian City Garden: Place, Typology, and Perception (July 2009), Hunt will discuss the role of method (and the limitations of theory) in exploring the material factors and social circumstances that have influenced the design of Venice’s gardens, courtyards, squares, and parks.
<i>John Dixon Hunt is professor of the History and Theory of Landscape in the Department of Landscape Architecture in the School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the author of numerous articles and books on history and theory of gardens and the picturesque.
