<b>Devra Davis</b> is an epidemiologist who also holds a Ph.D. in science
studies. She has been a leading figure in the public and scientific
debates over the environmental causes of cancer. Davis is currently the
director of the Center for Environmental Oncology at the University of
Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. Her book <i>When Smoke Ran Like Water: Tales
of Environmental Deception and the Battle Against Pollution</i> won a
National Book Award. Her new book is entitled <i>The Secret History of
the War on Cancer</i>.<br>
