The Center for History and New Media at George Mason University
would<br>
like to inform you of free resources available for researching and<br>
teaching the history of science, technology, and industry through<br>
ECHO: Exploring and Collecting History Online. We hope you make<br>
colleagues and students aware of the opportunities offered through<br>
our consulting services, small grants, workshops, website, and
tools.<br><br>
With support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, ECHO offers<br>
consulting services to institutions and individuals interested in<br>
developing projects that collect the recent history of science,<br>
technology, and industry online. We tailor our consultation to your<br>
project's scope, focus, and budget to help you implement and build<br>
your digital history collection. For examples of projects that
employ<br>
ECHO's methods and technologies to collect and present historical<br>
materials on the Web, see the ECHO Collecting Center at<br>

To encourage the creation of "Digital Memory Banks" in the
history of<br>
science, technology, and industry, we are pleased to offer a number
of<br>
$1,000 grants to fund such projects. Please submit a proposal of no<br>
more than 500 words and a C.V. to echo@chnm.gmu.edu by 15 November<br>
2006.<br><br>
For those who want to learn more about doing digital history, we
also<br>
periodically offer free workshops. Our next workshops will be held
in<br>
New York and Washington, D.C. during spring and summer 2007. For

Through our website we currently make available a gateway to the
best<br>
websites in the history of science, technology, industry as well as<br>
number of use research and teaching tools, including Survey Builder,<br>
a tool which allows the easy online collection of historical data.

also offer poll-building tools, a Web scrapbook program, a syllabus<br>
finder, and Zotero, a new research and citation tool, all available<br>
