The Center for Work, Family and Personal Life is pleased to announce our
upcoming seminar entitled <i>Race: Reality, Racialization, and
Relevance</i> led by Carlos Hoyt, LICSW, Director of Programs and
Services at The Home for Little Wanderers, Boston and Instructor of
Counseling Psychology at Lesley University, Cambridge.<b> <br><br>
</b>A conversation about the concept of race – its evolution, current
status, and relevance in each of our lives. Is race real?
What is racial identity? Is racial identity a choice? What are the
personal and social consequences of how we answer these questions?
Participants will be presented with important facts about race and
offered an analytic framework with which to understand this challenging
concept and its variable status in the realms of science, society, and
self.<br><br>
This seminar will be held on <b>Friday, February 24, 2006</b> from 12:00
PM to 1:30 PM in the Center conference room, Room 16-151. The seminar is
open to all members of the MIT community, free of charge.<br><br>
