Construction Notice: Mass Avenue Roadway
From Budget Rent-A-Car to Albany Street

On or shortly after Thursday, August 4, 2005 (weather permitting), Mass
Highway's contractor, the ROADS Corporation, will begin full-depth
reconstruction of the roadway on Mass Ave from Budget Rent-A-Car to
Albany Street, eastbound. This phase of construction will take
approximately one month to complete. Normal work hours for this
construction will be Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM.

How will this construction affect traffic and parking?
Work zones will be designated with jersey barriers. "No
Parking" signs will be posted in affected areas at least 24 hours in
advance of construction. Please avoid parking in work zones during
posted work hours. Traffic will be able to flow in both directions
along Mass Ave at all times during this construction.

During full-depth reconstruction at the Albany St intersection, traffic
on Albany St will be reduced to one lane in the northeast direction
(heading away from Cambridgeport) at the Mass Ave intersection for
approximately 3 days. Traffic heading southwest, into
Cambridgeport, will be detoured to use Sidney St to Pacific St to Albany
St (as described on the detour map on the reverse of this notice).

This operation is expected to take place from Monday, August 8-
Wednesday, August 10. The contractor will make every effort to
re-open this intersection to two-way traffic at the end of each
workday. Police details and detour signage will be effect to assist
drivers during this operation.

The Albany St intersection will also have to be closed for one-day in
order to complete paving. The City has given the contractor special
permission to start their work at this intersection at 5 AM on this day,
so that they can limit the closure to one-day (rather than two). On
that day, all traffic approaching Mass Ave on Albany St will be detoured
to use Pacific and Sidney St.

Who will address my concerns during construction?
construction, please contact Rebecca Fuentes, Community Relations Manager

special need or disability that requires an accommodation or continuation
of special services during construction. Please contact Rebecca if
you have a business and are concerned about deliveries or driveway access
