Detour Affecting Thru Traffic Access to Albany St from Main St:<br>
Tomorrow, Friday, July 29, the contractor will be repairing a water vault
located on Albany St, northeast of Mass Ave. Thru traffic trying to
access Albany St from Main St will be diverted to use Vassar Street to
reach Mass Ave. Local traffic on Albany St will be given
access.<br><br>
This work will not impact traffic headed from Cambridgeport along Albany
Street (due northeast). Drivers coming from Cambridgeport will be
able to continue along Albany St from Mass Ave to Main St.<br><br>
Paving Operations on Mass Ave between Landsdowne and Budget Rent-A-Car
(eastbound):<br>
On Monday, August 1, (weather permitting), the contractor will be paving
this section of roadway. Paving operations will take one day, and
will be followed by one day of casting adjustment. This work will
require that the intersection of Mass Ave and Landsdowne St be closed to
vehicles on Monday and Tuesday of next week.<br><br>
Full-depth Roadway Reconstruction to Begin Between Budget Rent-A-Car and
Albany St (eastbound):<br>
On or shortly after Wednesday, August 3, the contractor will begin to
mobilize in their next work zone, between the Budget Rent-A-Car and
Albany St (eastbound). <br><br>
The City is aware that traffic in the intersection of Mass Ave and Albany
St is of particular concern, and we are working with the contractor and
Mass Highway to arrange for appropriate detours, signage, and police
details during construction at this intersection. We will
distribute specific detour and schedule information early next
week.<br><br>
Evening Construction at the Intersection of Mass Ave and Vassar St:<br>
During the upcoming week, MIT's contractor, McCabe, will begin repairing
a leaking steam pipe at the intersection of Mass Ave and Vassar St.
This work will take approx 1 week to complete. This construction
has been scheduled during the evening hours in consideration of all the
daytime construction that will be impacting traffic in this area.
