<div>Where the attachment is placed depends on it working out the sapoffice folder for the executing user - that can be a bit tricky with batch users if they aren't set up in sapoffice. </div>

<div>Perhaps you could get your abaper to add some checks & workflow exceptions if the pdf doesn't get created & if the document isn't attached. That would narrow down the problem for you</div>

It?s me again.<br>

We are so close!!<br>
<br>
As a recap?.the function module being called in the method creates a PDF from a smartform, attaches it to an email and sends an email to an internal email address within our company (<a href="mailto:SAP.Workflow@odfl.com" target="">SAP.Workflow@odfl.com</a>)<br>
<br>
When we run it via SWO1, the email gets sent with the PDF attached.<br>
<br>
When my ABAPer executes the FM in a background job, it sends the email with the PDF attached.<br>
<br>
When we have the workflow call the method, it executes without any errors BUT the email gets sent with NO attachment.<br>
<br>
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!<br>

The function module contained code to do the process in the foreground and in the background based on how it was called. So, we made a copy of the FM and with only the background processing in it , ran another test from the workflow and we got passed the error!<br>

Ok I'm guessing somewhere its looking for a gui custom control (which requires a dialog user).<br>
<br>
If I were you I would go back to your ABAP programmer & get them to run the program in background (ie set up a little batch job) using a userid of the same type as WF-BATCH. I'm betting their background test might have been done using their own userid as the
executing user ...which isn't a true test of backgroundicity ;)<br>
<br>
Also a good time to double check the task method is passing all the right parameters.<br>

I created a BOR background method that calls a Z Function module that creates a smart form, converts it to a PDF and then emails it.<br>

When I test it in SWO1, it works. When my ABAPer runs the function module in background outside the workflow, it works.<br>

When it is executed in the Workflow it fails with the messages below:<br>

The error message indicates an error in the Control Framework<br>

We have searched notes, Google?.everything we can think of and cannot figure this out.<br>

We found one place that said to delete the task to method binding?.we did that.<br>

We can tell that the method is not being executed because we put a set container statement to 99 at the front of it and this never gets set. We get this error too?<br>
