I have solved the problem going forward. The problem was that the Expire Step on the deadline was set to cancel the work item rather than make it obsolete. Now that I have updated the expire step to set the workitem to obsolete all closes off nicely.</span><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:blue'>I will write a small routine to check the others and clsoe them off so that the stats look correct. Sometimes you might see “transaction brackets damaged” which basically means a broken link. You need to check out the parent step as well as the last step that completed successfully. Often it turns out to just be a deadlock race issue...<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto'>You can try using the function module SAP_WAPI_ADM_WORKFLOW_RESUME with the top level work item – i..e. the work item number of the workflow instance. If it’s a simple deadlock race issue that may fix the problem.
