<div>Thanks Mike. Yes it can be coded and Eval paths can form part of the solution. The point my HR ABAPer was making was that it can't be done with a single sexy Eval Path that could be plugged in simply to RH_STRUC_GET.

<div>I have code for ascending an org structure based on evaluation path parameters to find the org unit a user belongs to, but if you passed it an appropriate evaluation path parameter then I think it would also descend the org structure.
