<br><br>When the work item could be executed the lock must have been released.<br><br>You could of course do a test where you have a change transaction on the document going while you start the workflow. If that fails in the same manner it is an indication that this might be the problem.

We have checked the table lock and have found no lock for the object, but there might be something else going on there.
