Thanks Margaret !!

This approach seems to work.

We already had a custom Approve method, but that task was a foreground
task and was not getting executed. I changed the sy-uname to the
approver name and tested from the Business object. This seems to work,
Will modify the WF template to make the task a Background task and
test it from FIORI.
