Updating form structure

Hi all,
 
I've created start form and it works well. In my workflow I have several form steps (approve, edit, ..). However I have s situation where I need to update some of the structure fields but not in a dialog step.
Simple container operation will not allow to access the structure.
The data is held within the workflow container. I've also tried SAP_WAPI_WRITE_CONTAINER but it will not work for structure. I've run SWW_WI_CONTAINER_MODIFY but I can't seem to find any changes.
 
Any ideas how to do that other than debugging SAP standard?
