Thanks for the info, I think the picture is becoming more clear. Just a=
further point, am I right to think that I could equally use a simple SM=
TP
server (as I only want to send outgoing emails from SAP). In this case =
i
wouldnt need the SAP exchange connector, but would still need a RFC
-connection pointing to the SMTP server.
Do you know what program ID I would have to register for this??
Many thanks
John

Hi John,
you need the EXCHANGE-GATEWAY - the SAP-Exchange-Connector, it is on th=
e
SAP-CD.
To install the connection you have to create a RFC-Connection (type
registerd) - Standard registerd client program is SXC.
Also the USer must have a SMTP-Address in SAP.
Acloser look to Coversion-Rules I suggest too ((Note 211973 183465 e.g.=
)
Note 312690 and of course 99965 maybe helpful to start.
There are some points where you can fall into a trap:
A forwarding-address of a User must be different to its
SAP-Internetaddress.
A internet-Adress can be defined in HR/Infotype 105 ot in the
Usermanagement
(Table ADR6). Both don't know each other.
So you have to define a Home-SMPT-Adress you must see how to define the=
forwarding address.
Another possibility SAP suggested to me is to use Mail system group (e.=
g.
554029, 395792, 551760). But in this function I have no personal
expirience.
Maybe its helps.
Regards
Heinz

In order to connect Outlook to SAP with SCOT, will i need :
1) the IP address of the exchange server, set up as an RFC destination =
in
tx SM59
What is the progam name that needs to be run ?
2) are there any components that the exchange server needs to have in o=
rder

Many Thanks
John

Hi John,
the recipient must have a forwarding address active to his Outlook addr=
ess.
And Outlook must be connected to SAP. You can check this in Tx SCOT.

Just to re-clarify my earlier request, I am
On version 4.6B we would like to send an email (internet ??) from work=
flow
to an
employee's MS Outlook inbox informing them of a pending work item assi=
gned
to them via workflow.
I believe that I can use program RSWUWFML, but what other config do I=
need.
Many Thanks
