Additivity Questions in Quantum Information Theory

by Prof. Peter Shor (MIT Mathematics Dept.)

ABSTRACT

Several of the unsolved questions in quantum information theory deal 
with the additivity of various entropy-related formulas and 
capacities.  We will discuss these questions, and show that several 
of them are related.  Namely, the additivity of the entanglement of 
formation, of the Holevo capacity, of the minimum entropy output, and 
the strong superadditivity of the entanglement of formation, are 
either all true or all false.
