A Purple Blurb presentation:
"Finer Fruits: Experiment in Life and Play at Walden"
Featuring Tracy Fullerton
5:30pm, Thursday Nov 8
MIT's 32-155 (In the Stata Center)
Tracy Fullerton is an experimental game designer, professor and director
of the Game Innovation Lab at the USC School of Cinematic Art.
Walden, a game, is an experiment in play being made about an experiment in
living. The game simulates Henry David Thoreau's experiment in living a
simplified existence as articulated in his book Walden. It puts Thoreau’s
ideas about the essentials of life into a playable form, in which players
can take on the role of Thoreau. Fullerton will speak about Walden and her
previous work, including The Night Journey, her collaboration with
McDermott Award winner Bill Viola.
Please join us today for Tracy Fullerton's talk on her extraordinary work
as a maker of games that are engaged with literature and art.
