<P class=MsoNormal style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 8pt; LINE-HEIGHT: 150%"><SPAN lang=EN-GB style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt; LINE-HEIGHT: 150%"><FONT face=Calibri>We, the conscientious students of MIT, wish to express our protest against the Egyptian Students Association (ESA) upcoming event ‘Doing Business in the Middle East and Egypt: Q&A Session with Naguib Sawiris’ (scheduled for this Tuesday, February 25<SUP>th</SUP>). Naguib Sawiris, a successful Egyptian and American businessman, is also a well-known accomplice of the current North Korean regime, which is infamous for its cruelty and repeated violations of all basic human rights against its own citizens. <o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>

He has since been known for his close ties with late dictator, Kim Jong Il, and recently with his son and successor, Kim Jong Un. Sawiris had also visited the country several times, where he was greeted with a reception reserved only to the regime’s most valued partners. <o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>

In a time when the UN Human Rights Committee publishes horrific testimonies of the numerous atrocities committed by the North Korean dictatorship against its own citizens, we feel it is extremely inappropriate and unacceptable to host a businessman who cooperates so closely with the perpetrators. A respected institute such as MIT should not allow such a man to take part in any formal event held in campus- it is time to take a stand and send a message. The university should not allow the Sawiris Q&A events to take place!<o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>
