<html><head></head><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space; ">As mobile phones become ever more capable of supporting functions normally associated with "computing", and given IS&T's overall support of mobile devices, should we be expecting mobile phones to become part of a standard MIT offering much like network, computing, and telephone services?<div><br></div><div>There are probably a substantial number of DLC-supported mobile devices on campus at this point, and there must be interest in figuring out how to keep the costs of ownership as low as possible. This would include issues not only of the outlay associated with operating the devices but also any savings that can be achieved by reducing services that are becoming less used as a result.</div><div><br></div><div>In particular as we feel more pressure to equip staff with mobile devices and thus find our land-line services becoming less used, is there going to be any chance of trading mobile plans off against telephone proxy charges?</div><div><br></div><div>What are DLCs doing about mobile devices for staff? Are there policies evolving that people want to share?</div><div><br></div><div><div>
