MITREid Connect 1.2.0 has been released to Maven Central this afternoon. This officially begins a new release series.

This version brings with it many changes, including:
 - Internationalization support
 - UMA support (in the experimental UMA modules)
 - Updated Spring and Spring Security dependencies
 - Removal of object binaries stored in the database
 - Updated JavaScript libraries
 - Native dependency on Java7
 - Improved database connection pool
 - Support for SNI
 - Improved code modularity and robustness
 - Improved default security

And many, many more things that were put in there over the course of its roughly 12 months of development.

The 1.2.x series will continue development on the “master” branch of the repository until the 1.3.x series needs to break away in a backwards-incompatible fashion.

The 1.1.x series will now become the “legacy” release series, receiving only serious patches and back ports.

The 1.0.x series will now become an “end of life” release, receiving no new updates past the current versions except to facilitate upgrades.

To upgrade from 1.0.x or 1.1.x to 1.2.0, follow the instructions on the wiki:

https://github.com/mitreid-connect/OpenID-Connect-Java-Spring-Server/wiki/Upgrading-to-1.2 <https://github.com/mitreid-connect/OpenID-Connect-Java-Spring-Server/wiki/Upgrading-to-1.2>

Unlike the previous 1.1 release, there are no database upgrades scripts due to incompatibilities with stored binary objects. Note that to successfully upgrade, you need to be running 1.1.16 or later for the 1.1.x series or 1.0.20 or later for the 1.0.x series. Data exports from earlier revisions will not import properly into 1.2.

The documentation and example applications (simple-web-app and example-server-overlay) still need to be updated to depend on the new release.

It’s been a long time coming, and much thanks to everyone who contributed to this release.
