Hello everyone,

Below is information about the upcoming 21st Anniversary of the chemical
disaster in Bhopal, India. Locally, a group called the Boston Coalition for
Bhopal (with several individuals representing Amnesty) is organizing a
candlelight vigil followed by a short film or talk about the disaster.

The vigil is planned for Friday 02 December from 4.15-6 pm in Boston Common near
the Park St T stop (technically Brewer Fountain). The location of the event
following the vigil is TBA, but will be within walking distance. Please e-mail
me with any questions you might have.

Join us in remembering those who were lost, and fighting for the half million
who survived!

Dear CAN and SHARE POWER Members,

The 21st anniversary of the Bhopal chemical disaster is just two weeks
away – December 2-3, 2005.

The anniversary is a powerful time to raise awareness about the human
rights crisis in Bhopal and to draw attention to the responsibilities of
Dow-Union Carbide, as well as the Indian Government. To learn more about
what happened in Bhopal, visit
http://www.amnestyusa.org/business/sharepower/bhopal.html

Next week, Amnesty, along with notable shareholders such as New York City
Fire Department Pension Fund, Boston Common Asset Management, and the
Sisters of Mercy Detroit, will be filing a resolution with the Dow,
demanding that they report on any new initiatives instituted by management
to address specific health, environmental and social concerns of Bhopal
survivors.

Over the next 6 months, we need to step up our efforts to raise the truth
about Bhopal with shareholders across the country, to ensure a big vote at
next year’s shareholder meeting in May! If Dow hears from a critical mass
of shareholders that this is important, they will have a hard time
continuing to deny their responsibilities.

This is where you come in! If you haven’t already, join SHARE POWER and
start a campaign in your community. Connect with activists across your
city or state and present Dow with a force they can’t ignore. Use the
anniversary of the disaster as a way to draw media attention to your
campaign and increase the pressure on Dow.
