[This is something like the 12th hearing for Pic. He is an
amazing guy who never thinks of himself and is always helping
others. If you can only afford few day time actions, you
may want to wait for his trial, but if you are able to go, it
would be good to let them know that community people are
watching. -aimee ]

Wednesday 1/26 Support anti-war activist Richard Picariello in Court

9:00 am
Boston Municipal Court
90 Devenshire St.
(Near Govt Ctr T stop, entrance is in post office sq.)

On Wednesday, January 26, anti-war activist Richard Picariello
will appear in Boston Municipal Court. Please come out at 9 am
to be with Richard in court.

Richard's case is reflective of the increased police harrassment
against the expression of free speech rights and anti-war opposition
in the current period. He was arrested in April after being threatened
by a right wing provocateur while distributing anti-war literature at
Park Street station. And he was arrested again a week later at the
protest against the Bush fundraiser at the Park Plaza hotel in Boston,
simply for being there. When under arrest in the first instance, the
police attempted to interrogate Richard about organizing for protests
against the Democratic National Convention in July. Since then Richard
has been subjected to a cointelpro-style harrassment and disinformation
campaign that has included agents interfering in court at his pre-trial
hearings, slanderous articles in the New York Daily News and Boston Herald
attacking him leading up to the RNC in New York, and being tailed by as
many as 4 cars full of agents.
