Wind energy annual production triples from 23,5 TWh in 2003 to 77,2 TWh in 2015, providing 14 % of the German net electricity consumption. Wind energy increases only marginally the cost of electricity for the consumers: The total additional cost caused by tripling wind power production up to 77 TWh in 2015 compared to 2003 is estimated to be between 1.6 and 2.3 Billion Euros on the basis of minor or no price increases for fossil fuels. For an average household using 3.5 MWh per year the incremental cost due to higher generation costs and increased grid charges would be in the order of 1 Euros per month. http://www.ewea.org/documents/0510_EWEA_BWE_VDMA_dena_RELEASE.pdf And on the local front... A four-part series on the Cape Wind Project will air on the WB56 Ten O'Clock News starting Sunday, May 22, 2005, and continuing thru Wednesday, May 25, 2005. Each segment will air between the hours of 10 and 11 pm and will include interviews with Jim Gordon, President of Cape Wind, and other interested parties.
