<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Optima">Happy New Year! I hope you had some time to rest and recharge during the winter break. In case you missed it, Vice President for Research Ian Waitz sent an important
<a href="https://orgchart.mit.edu/letters/minimum-salarystipend-postdocs">communication</a> to postdocs and faculty just before the break. In it he announced MIT’s upcoming
<b>new minimum salary</b> for postdoctoral scholars: $73,308, effective July 1, 2026. The communication also announced a
<b>new resource</b> that we have developed with input from faculty and the MIT Postdoctoral Association, a
<a href="https://postdocs.mit.edu/document/guide-mit-postdocs-and-faculty-advisors">
Guide for MIT Postdocs and Faculty Advisors</a>. The Guide is meant to clarify roles and expectations for faculty mentors and postdocs, and we hope you’ll find useful in guiding discussions with your PI about your experience at MIT and your career development.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
