<em style="font-family:"Trebuchet MS",sans-serif"></em><span style="font-family:"Trebuchet MS",sans-serif">Neurological disorders like epilepsy and channelopathies are associated with dysfunctional behavioral states of the brain, and sudden, unpredictable transitions
from function to dysfunction; yet we lack a principled way to study the various dynamical states a neural circuit can display. Here, I seek to better understand how neural circuits can be robust to perturbations by studying the spiking behavior of a small,
identified neural circuit, the crustacean pyloric pacemaker. Unsupervised embedding of spike patterns from this circuit allows me to visualize the totality of spiking activity across experimental replicates, time and under different perturbations. Approaches
such as this may reveal correlations between patterns of neural activity at many scales to biophysical mechanisms in neurons, hinting at mechanisms of resilience.</span></p>
