<p class=""><span class="">Business Applications Workshop in
Finance</span></p>
<p class=""><span class="">This workshop will look at the
financial industry as an alternative to an academic career. We
will discuss the knowledge and skills that are often
transferable from an academic environment to the financial
world. Examples are given of several quantitative roles,
including portfolio analysis, risk management, algorithmic
trading, and asset allocation. We will consider the pluses and
minuses of being a “quant” as well as several of the “truths,
perceptions, and misconceptions” of life in the financial
world.</span></p>
<p class=""><span class="">A special section of the talk will be
devoted to “Key Financial Concepts for Consulting Interviews”
and will cover necessary finance concepts and vocabulary that
commonly pop up during case interviews. Finally, there will be
plenty of time for questions about finance vs. consulting vs.
industry. Come and hear whether a job in the financial
industry might be a good fit for you! </span></p>
