Building up to the United Nations Climate Change
Conference to be hosted by France in December 2015 (COP
21-Paris Climate 2015), the Embassies of France in both
Canada and the United States are organizing events with
the goal of promoting Canadian and American public
engagement with climate challenges. Theses conferences are
open to a general public and aim at raising awareness
about COP21, bringing new ideas and promote innovations to
fight Climate Change.

FACTS is a public conference series that will take place
in seven cities in the United States and Canada involving
renowned scientists, civil society representatives, NGOs,
political figures, journalists and leaders of the
cleantech industry. One of these conferences is organized
in partnership with the MIT-France program, in Boston on
October 9, 2014.

Kerry Emanuel (PAOC, MIT), Susan Solomon (PAOC, MIT), John
Reilly (Sloan, MIT), Jean Jouzel (IPCC Vice-president) and
Brice Lalonde (former minister of the environment in
France) will be among the speakers. The focus of the
discussion will be on the economics of climate change: the
evaluation of the costs related to the impact of Climate
Change and the opportunities which may emerge from that
crisis. Emilie Alberola, Associate professor of economics
at HEC Paris and Head of Carbon Market and Energy research
division at CDC Climate in Paris, will give an overview of
the economic tools available for curbing CO2 emissions.

The format is a two hour panel discussion from 4pm to 6
pm, moderated by Tom
Zeller, followed by a networking reception. It
will take place at the Wong auditorium.
