The Cambridge Center for Adult Education (CCAE) in Harvard Square,
Cambridge is offering a new "Strategic Presentations" mini
three week intensive course for foreign scholars, post-docs,
researchers, and graduate students in November 2009 and January
2010.

This course was suggested by two foreign post-doctoral scholars from
MIT and Harvard who wanted to improve their presentation skills in
English. Although they were very good at written English, they were
less confident about their ability to make presentations to others.
The course has been designed with this in mind.

The students in this course are required to prepare strategic topics
they expect to present in English at their US universities. These will
include their own summaries of the topics, current related reference
bibliographies, supplementary illustrations related to their
presentations using digital images from their computers, and brief
summaries of their academic backgrounds and work experiences. There
will be no textbook for the course.

Dr. Thelma Leaffer, the course developer and instructor, is a former
MIT consultant who has worked with MIT graduate students and
researchers in the past.

The Strategic Presentations course will be offered on Wednesdays from
11:00AM-12:30 PM in three sections:

The November course is on Nov. 18, 25 and Dec. 2.

The Winter "Section 1" course is on January 13, 20, and
27.

Winter "Section 2" course is on February 3, 10, and 17.

Course students are not required to take all sessions, but may do so
if they are interested.
