</b>The NPA is seeking six committed and energetic individuals to
serve on its NPA Board of Directors for two-year terms. Service on the
Board is an excellent opportunity to refine your skills and share your
vision with a dynamic group. Service on the Board is not just for
postdocs, so non-postdocs are strongly encouraged to apply.

and provides a venue for exchange of best practices and networking.

Negotiating the Ideal Faculty Position Workshop<br>
</b>Rice University is strongly committed to increasing the diversity
of science and engineering faculty and students. As part of this goal,
Rice University is sponsoring an exciting workshop for senior women
graduate students and postdocs who are interested in pursuing an
academic career. The workshop, "Negotiating the Ideal Faculty
Position," will be held October 18-19, 2009, in Houston, TX.
The workshop is designed to provide participants hands-on
experience to enhance their knowledge of and ability to find the right
faculty position. Airfare, hotel accomodations, and meals provided at
no cost to workshop participants. For more details,
