<div>Dear MIT Postdoctoral Associates and Fellows,</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The NIH has just announced that on August 8, 2009, the
Ruth. L. Kirschstein National Research Service Awards (NRSA) for
Individual Postdoctoral Fellows (F32) and Predoctoral Fellows (F31)
must be submitted via Grants.gov. <b> PAPER SUBMISSIONS
WILL NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED. </b></div>
<div> </div>
<div>MIT's preferred method for submitting proposals to Grants.gov
is through system-to-system transmission using Coeus, MIT's grants
management system (<a
href="http://coeus.mit.edu/coeus">http://coeus.mit.edu/coeus</a>). The
Coeus programmers are working on providing the necessary forms that
will be required for these submissions. An SF424 Guide to
Fellowships has just been released and we are working to create a
Coeus preparation guide for creating these proposals. At this
time applicants can begin preparing their proposal in Coeus, but will
not be able to link to Grants.gov until the necessary forms have been
programmed. There will be additional information available in
the next few weeks, but we wanted to alert you to this change in
process. </div>
<div> </div>
<div> If you are planning to submit a proposal for the upcoming
NIH NRSA deadline, we encourage you to contact your departmental
administrator as soon as possible so that they can request system
authorization for you and can assist you as you prepare your
application. Additionally, you will need an eRA
Commons userid, which you can obtain by sending an email to <a
href="mailto:nih-help@mit.edu">nih-help@mit.edu</a>.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>To help us prepare and better assist you, we also ask that you
contact <a href="mailto:Coeus-help@mit.edu">Coeus-help@mit.edu</a>
with the following information:</div>
<div> </div>
<div>* The name of each applicant (per NIH guidelines, this individual
will be considered the P.I. for submission purposes only)</div>
<div>* The name of the faculty mentor/sponsor</div>
<div>* The solicitation to which you are applying</div>
<div>* The department submitting your proposal</div>
<div> </div>
<div><b>All proposals in final format must be received in OSP by
9:00am on Tuesday, August 4</b>. Given the challenges we have
experienced as other NIH mechanisms transitioned over the last two
years, it is safe to say that we will not be in a position to review
and submit late fellowship proposals. Any proposal
that does not meet this internal deadline will require special
approval by the Dean's Office and will only be processed after all
'on time' proposals have been submitted successfully.</div>
