<div>Should You Accept Dysfunctional Relationships at Work?</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>Do you have problems with someone at work? Your advisor or
Principal</div>
<div>Investigator? Is your PI famous but doesn't help you solve or
learn anything?</div>
<div>Is there a postdoc who doesn't talk to you? Did someone take
credit for your</div>
<div>work, or place blame on you improperly? Do such problems seem
UN-solvable? How</div>
<div>can you confront someone with a concern? Is your work environment
too</div>
<div>competitive and secretive? Or, do you just wish your
relationships with your</div>
<div>coworkers were a bit better? Are there cultural barriers? Maybe
you get along</div>
<div>with some postdocs, but you're not really friends. Do you find
that you are less</div>
<div>friendly than when you were in college? (Maybe now you have a
"significant</div>
<div>other" and are increasingly treating peers at the office as
"insignificant</div>
<div>others," even though you're not really like that!) Maybe
you've been at MIT for</div>
<div>over a year but feel that you still haven't developed as many
good</div>
<div>relationships as in college or grad school. Do you feel like
nobody taught you</div>
<div>"the rules" for getting along well with people here in
the Boston area? Are you</div>
<div>accepting the idea that postdocs have to be alone? Don't!</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>Bring us your problems! Let's share some experiences. You
may find that yours are neither unique nor unsolvable. Or, just come
to learn some general strategies for improving dysfunctional
relationships.</div>
