Today's update focuses on testing the team has performed and OS X Mavericks functionality within the MIT computing environment.</div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;"><br></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;"><strong>Recommendation</strong></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;">Information Services and Technology (IS&T) continues to recommend that users WAIT to upgrade to OS X Mavericks. Users should stay on their current OS X version – Lion (10.7) or Mountain Lion (10.8) – until business-critical applications are working as expected and are supported by their vendors. Departmental users should always check with their local IT support before upgrading software.</div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;"><br></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;"><strong>Resolved Known Issues by Application:</strong></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;"><br></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;"><em><strong>VMware Fusion</strong></em></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;">IS&T began distribution of the vendor-recommended <a href="http://ist.mit.edu/vmware-fusion/6x/mac">VMware Fusion 6</a> on November 6.</div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;"><br></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;"><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><em><strong>Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client (VPN)</strong></em></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">IS&T has deployed the updated Mavericks-compatible version of the <a href="http://ist.mit.edu/cisco-anyconnect/mac">AnyConnect Mobility Client, 3.1.04074</a>. Current users should be prompted to be updated to the current version on launch and new users can download the software from the Software Grid. </div></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;"><br></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;"><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><em><strong>Sophos</strong></em></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">IS&T has begun distribution of the Mavericks-recommended version of <a href="http://ist.mit.edu/sophos/mac">Sophos for Mac, 9.0.4</a>. It is available on the Software Grid for new installations; current users should be updated to the new version by the automated console connection. Due to the way IS&T must distribute Sophos, this software is not compatible with Gatekeeper. Directions for installation are shown in the installer itself and are also available in the <a href="http://kb.mit.edu/confluence/x/xgAYCQ">Knowledge Base</a>.</div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><br></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><strong>Current Known Issues by Application:</strong></div></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;"><br></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;"><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><em><strong>TSM</strong></em></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">TSM 6.3, IS&T’s current distributed version, is not vendor-certified for Mavericks. As a result, IS&T cannot guarantee TSM’s functionality. We are working with the vendor to obtain a Mavericks-certified release of TSM. Once IS&T has received this software update, we will test the updated TSM application in our environment and release TSM to the community.</div></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;"><br></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;"><em><strong>SAPgui</strong></em></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;">IS&T has recently upgraded the Mac SAPgui client to version 7.30 patch 1 for OS X 10.7 and 10.8 users. However SAP recommends SAPgui 7.30 Patch 4 or later for Mavericks. As a workaround, Mavericks’ users may use VMware Fusion 6 to create a Windows Virtual Machine and install SAPgui 7.30 Patch Level 5. IS&T expects to begin testing and packaging of this version in early 2014.</div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;"><br></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;"><strong>Distribution</strong></div><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial;">IS&T is testing a standalone Mavericks installer that will be available for download via the Software Grid.
