<HTML><BODY style="word-wrap: break-word; -khtml-nbsp-mode: space; -khtml-line-break: after-white-space; ">After doing lots of testing and monitoring web reports, I'd say it's okay to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.4.6 for most users.<DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV>As usual, users should take the proper precautions before installing upgrading:</DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV>- make a backup</DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV>- if possible, install the update on a test machine first before deploying to production machines</DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV>In addition, read the information from Apple regarding this update at <A href="http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303411">http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303411</A></DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV>If you or people you support are using iSync, make sure to read <A href="http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303419">http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303419</A> about what you need to do before upgrading to Mac OS X 10.4.6.</DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV>Also remember that PowerPC-based Macs restart twice after installing this update.</DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV>And finally, if your users are using Photoshop CS2 and save files to a non-Apple AFP (Apple Filing Protocol) server, you should be aware that upgrading to Mac OS X 10.4.6 will cause Photoshop to crash when saving files to the server. If you're using Mac OS X Server to provide file sharing, you are all set; if you're using something else (such as ExtremeZ-IP by GroupLogic) or another non-Apple AFP file server, you should contact the vendor of the file server that you're using before upgrading.
