Web Browser Recommendations for FY 2005</font></blockquote>

experience at this time of year,</font> MIT's personal Web
certificates expire periodically. Certificates obtained in the
past year are set to expire between June 8th and July 31st,
2004. Certificates may be renewed, at your convenience,
anytime between today and the end of July and they will be effective
through July 31st, 2005.</blockquote>

<blockquote type="cite" cite>Information Services and Technology,
IS&T, in concert with colleagues who maintain and support websites
across MIT, developed the following browser recommendations to help
simplify IT support and provide a consistent set of standards, to
which MIT web site maintainers and providers can use to ensure
delivery of quality web services to the community.</blockquote>

<blockquote type="cite" cite><font color="#020202">
--<b> Windows' users:</b> Internet Explorer, IE 6 SP1 or later,
is the recommended and supported web browser for the upcoming fiscal
year. It is important that the web browser version be current
with the operating system and all critical web browser patches be
current. Should you prefer to remain with Netscape, the
recommended version is Netscape 7.02.</font></blockquote>

color="#020202"><br></font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font color="#020202">
--<b> Macintosh users:</b> Safari v 1.2.2 (x.509 personal
certificate support), Apple's developed and maintained web browser for
MacOS X (10.3.4 or later) joins the recommended and supported web
browser for the Macintosh platform. Should you prefer to remain
with Netscape, the recommended version is Netscape
7.02.</font></blockquote>

<blockquote type="cite" cite><font color="#020202">
--<b> Linux users:</b> Mozilla 1.6 is the current version
available in the Athena Linux and Solaris environments and is
recommended for stand alone Linux and Solaris
installations.</font></blockquote>

color="#020202"><br></font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite>Renewal of personal Web certificates is
not automatic. To ensure continued access to MIT's secure Web
applications, such as, Benefits, SAPweb, WebSIS, etc., plan to renew
in the coming weeks. Acquire your own new certificate now,

and encourage those you work with to do the same. As a reminder,
if you use certificates on multiple machines, you will need to get a
new certificate for each machine. Questions or problems with
