[Macpartners] For Mac Users: IS&T Announces Support for VMware Fusion 5

Good Morning,

Information Services and Technology (IS&T) is pleased to announce support for VMware Fusion 5 for the Mac. Fusion lets OS X users install and manipulate supported operating systems in a virtualized environment.

The new features of Fusion 5 can be viewed on VMware's website<http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/features.html>.

MIT faculty, staff, and students can download VMware Fusion 5<http://ist.mit.edu/vmware-fusion/5x/mac> (certificates<http://ist.mit.edu/certificates> required) from IS&T's website free of charge.

The minimum system requirements for Fusion 5 are as follows:

  *   Any 64‐bit capable Intel Mac (Core 2 Duo, Xeon, i3, i5, i7 processors or better)
  *   Minimum 2GB of RAM (4GB or more recommended)
  *   750MB free disk space for VMware Fusion and at least 5GB for each virtual machine
  *   Mac OS X 10.6.7 or later (OS X Lion or Mountain Lion recommended)
