[Macpartners] Mac OS X 10.6.1 Update

Earlier this week, Apple released Mac OS X 10.6.2.  IS&T continues to recommend that users wait to upgrade to 10.6, but early adopters that have already upgraded, or users that have received new machines with 10.6 pre-installed should apply this update.

Apple does their best to test each update before making it public, but problems may still occur. To help make the update process go as smoothly as possible, we suggest the following:

* Have a current backup of all of your data.

* Before upgrading, run the "Verify Drive" option in Disk Utility.

* Quit all open applications before starting the installation.

* Allow the installation process to complete, uninterrupted. Laptop
users should plug in their machine before doing the upgrade.

* After the upgrade, run the "Repair Permissions" option in Disk Utility
to fix any permissions issues that might have been caused the by the
installer.

* If possible, test the upgrade on a non-production machine before
installing it on production hardware.

The update is available either through Software Update (Choose Software
Update from the Apple Menu) or from Apple Downloads:
