Good morning.

Information Services and Technology is pleased to announce the
release and support of iPassConnect 3.51 for Windows and iPassConnect
2.38 for Mac OS X. iPassConnect allows a user to use the iPass
service, which provides registered users access to commercial
internet service providers when traveling domestically or
internationally, via broadband connections (wireless and wired
connections) and via dialup. The costs are billed to an MIT account
number.

iPassConnect 3.51 for Windows fixes several bugs and includes these
new features:

  * improved support for hidden wireless networks
  * support for Internet Explorer 7
  * updated wireless card drivers

iPassConnect 2.38 for Mac OS X includes these new features:

  * support for Intel-based Macintosh computers

Who should upgrade
------------------
Windows users--IS&T recommends users of previous versions of
iPassConnect for Windows upgrade to iPassConnect 3.51.

Mac OS X users--IS&T recommends users of previous version of
iPassConnect for Mac OS X upgrade to version 2.38.

Known issues
------------
Windows:
  * iPassConnect 3.51 is not compatible with Windows Vista
  * iPassConnect is a 32-bit application; it hasn't been tested by
iPass on 64-bit operating systems
  * An upgrade to 3.51 from versions 3.40, 3.41 or 3.50 does not
remove an obsolete version of PSAPI.DLL, that can cause an issue with
the iPassConnect help file when IE7 is installed. This is not an
issue for fresh installs of 3.50 or for upgrades from versions
earlier than 3.40.

Mac OS X:
  * A Kerberos password containing the plus (+) or ampersand (&)
symbols may cause intermittent connectivity problems on broadband
connections.
  * Intel-based notebook computers from Apple (the MacBook and the
MacBook Pro) do not have built-in modems, unlike previous models.
Users planning to use iPass over dialup will need to purchase an
external modem, such as the Apple USB Modem, product number MA034Z/A.
