<span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:black">The Smeal College of Business is seeking a Chairperson for its Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems (SC&IS) beginning summer 2015. A successful candidate will have strong leadership skills,
a respect for the multiple disciplines under the supply chain umbrella, and a record of collaboration and accomplishment in an academic setting. The candidate must also demonstrate ability to create and implement curriculum initiatives and to manage multiple
programs (graduate degrees, undergraduate majors and minors, certificates) within the department. Research and teaching credentials appropriate for a tenured appointment at the rank of full professor are required, including a doctorate in a related field.
The Department Chair will report to the Senior Associate Dean for Research and Faculty and will have overall responsibility for department operations and strategy. The Chair will support and provide leadership for the department’s teaching, research, and service
missions. Responsibilities include leading department visioning and strategy, supporting faculty and doctoral student research, guiding faculty and staff development, developing course staffing plans, coordinating new curriculum, launching research and staff
initiatives, and having responsibility for the department’s online certificate and degree offerings. The chair is expected to enhance external relationships with the business community and alumni, as well as develop and maintain internal relationships with
other Smeal units. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:black">The Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems has a global reputation for research with impact and for talented graduates. The department includes 36 faculty members, 21 of whom are tenured/tenure
track, and five support staff. SC&IS offers undergraduate degrees in Supply Chain Management and Management Information Systems, a Master of Professional Studies in Supply Chain Management, and a Ph.D. in Supply Chain and Information Systems. The department
participates in Smeal’s full-time MBA and Executive MBA programs, and in Penn State’s Operations Research Dual Title graduate degree program. The department closely affiliates with Smeal’s Center for Supply Chain Research, whose mission is to link its 50 corporate
members with Smeal’s outstanding faculty, staff, and students through research, educational programs, benchmarking, and workshops for executive management and leadership.
