Leonardo events include a presentation of <a href="http://s2013.siggraph.org/attendees/art-papers">SIGGRAPH 2013 Art Papers</a>, a reception for the <a href="http://s2013.siggraph.org/submitters/art-gallery">SIGGRAPH Gallery: XYZN: Scale</a> (Tuesday, 23 July, 2-3:30 PM) and the <a href="http://s2013.siggraph.org/attendees/birds-feather">Leonardo Birds of a Feather community meeting</a> (Wednesday 24 July, 1-2:30 PM). <h4>Next DASER: 20 June 2013</h4>
<p class="mainText"><img src="http://www.leonardo.info/images/DASER-banner_150-border.jpg" border="0" align="left">Cultural Programs of the National Academy of Sciences announces the <strong>D.C. Art Science Evening Rendezvous (DASER)</strong>, a monthly discussion forum on art and science projects in the national capital region and beyond. In June, DASER explores the topic <strong>visualizing space</strong>. The event is on Thursday, <strong>20 June 2013</strong> from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. EST (doors open at 5:30) in Room 100 of the Keck Center, 500 Fifth St., N.W. <h4>9th ACM Conference on Creativity & Cognition</h4>
<p class="mainText"><img src="http://www.leonardo.info/images/C&C_2013.jpg" border="0" align="left">The University of Technology, Sydney, Australia, will host the <strong>International Conference on Creativity and Cognition</strong> from <strong>17-20 June 2013</strong>, directly after ISEA2013. The conference theme, <strong>"Intersections and Interactions,"</strong> focuses on the inter-disciplinarity inherent in the study of creativity and cognition. Keynote speakers include designer and researcher Willliam Verplank, Dr Celine Latulipe, Associate Professor of Human-Computer Interaction in the College of Computing and Informatics at UNC Charlotte, and Ken Friedman, a seminal figure in Fluxus and Dean of the Faculty of Design at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne. <a href="http://cc13.creativityandcognition.com/?page_id=541" target="_blank">Find out more</a></p>
<h4>International Computer Music Conference</h4>
<p class="mainText"><img src="http://www.leonardo.info/images/ICMC_2013.jpg" border="0" align="left">Registrations are now open to attend the <strong>2013 International Computer Music Conference</strong> (11-17 August 2013, Perth, Australia). Paper sessions, performances, installations and presentation of spatialized works will all take place within the Perth Cultural Centre. <h4>Leonardo Welcomes Minerva Foundation</h4>
<p class="mainText"><img src="http://www.leonardo.info/images/affiliates/logo_Minerva-border.jpg" border="0" align="left">Leonardo’s newest Afflilate Member, the <strong>Minerva Foundation</strong>, is a not-for-profit, charitable foundation dedicated to promoting original and challenging approaches to the study of the visual brain. The Minerva Foundation has three foci: (1) The Golden Brain is awarded annually to an investigator in the forefront of research for original discovery of significant findings of vision and the brain, (2) The International Conference on Neuroesthetics is a gathering of cross-disciplinary scholars to speak to a particular theme related to neuroesthetics and (3) The Minerva House Visiting Scholar Residency Program provides an opportunity for retreat as well as exchange in a gracious house in north Berkeley, close to the university. <h4>eDream Institute</h4>
<p class="mainText"><img src="http://www.leonardo.info/images/affiliates/logo_eDREAM-border.jpg" border="0" align="left"><strong>eDream (Emerging Digital Research and Education in Arts Media) Institute</strong> is dedicated to promoting arts that are conceived, created and conveyed through digital technologies to reimagine creative productions, technologies, expressions and their potential for positive impact on our communities and cultures. Founded in January 2009 at the University of Illinois by the Office of the Provost to serve as an international center for envisioning and practicing the emerging digital arts, eDream draws upon the university's strength as a leader in science and engineering, as well as its internationally recognized faculty and programs in the arts, humanities and social sciences. eDream captures the energy of the 21st-century Information Revolution, a historic moment when the arts, sciences, humanities and engineering are converging to create digital arts media. <h4>Call for Proposals: Dirty Water</h4>
<p class="mainText">Rainwater, stormwater, graywater and blackwater are being treated with increasing frequency as important resources. Designers and artists, together with engineers and agencies, are highlighting the presence of water reuse in our communities through creative expression, interpretation and the visible additions of green infrastructure. Women Environmental Artists Directory (WEAD) seeks proposals for submissions for the upcoming issue of the WEAD magazine from international artists working with “dirty water” projects. <h4>Call for Participation: Art/Science Curriculum</h4>
<p class="mainText">In conjunction with the College Art Association 102nd Annual Conference (12-15 February 2014, Chicago), LEAF (Leonardo Education and Art Forum) will present a panel titled “The Art/Science Curriculum in the Classroom and in the Cloud.” If you have developed or participated in instruction bringing together art and science, this panel will provide an opportunity to share your experiences. Please submit an abstract (up to 200 words) to Adrienne Klein, <a href="mailto:aklein@gc.cuny.edu">aklein@gc.cuny.edu</a>. Include a brief biographical statement with mailing address, email address and phone and fax numbers, as well as a cover note explaining your interest and expertise in the topic. <h4>Call for Proposals: antiATLAS</h4>
<p class="mainText">The antiAtlas of borders is a transdisciplinary event that will take place 30 September 2013 - 1 March 2014. Bypassing cartography and at the crossroads of research and art, it offers a new approach to the mutations of borders and how they are experienced by people in the 21st century. The objective of antiAtlas is to decompartmentalize fields of knowledge to bring artists, human scientists, hard scientists and professionals together through an international symposium open to researchers, institutional actors and the public at large. The event will also include an art-science exhibition at the Musée des Tapisseries in Aix en Provence, an art-science exhibition at La Compagnie in Marseille, an artistic and scientific web site and an art-science printed volume. <h4>Call for Papers: Leonardo Electronic Almanac: Sound Art Curating/Curating Sound</h4>
<p class="mainText">The role and function of the curator is being transformed by the modus operandi and creative practices of mediated art forms, interactive art and design. One of the effects of this transformation is the creation of the new emerging field of sound art curating. Leonardo Electronic Almanac (LEA) encourages submissions that have a practice-based approach to the analysis and discussion of the methodologies, histories, theories and interface-designs of sound art curating/sound curation. Also invited are submissions that take into account issues related to sound art’s audiences, reception and experiential contexts. <h4>Call for Submissions: VIDA 15.0, Art and Artificial Life International Awards.</h4>
<p class="mainText">At a time when the concept of life finds itself once again in uncharted territory, a wide range of artistic initiatives attempt to illustrate and explore this phenomenon, examining its impact on our collective consciousness and the cultural, technological and social mindset. VIDA will be looking for artistic projects that offer innovative perspectives on life by using the latest technology and cutting-edge scientific knowledge. Projects that win a VIDA Award must be capable of expressing the complex organization of life systems and the hybrid nature of life.
