<h4>FIRST L.A. LASER: 7 March 2013</h4>
<p class="mainText"><img src="http://www.leonardo.info/images/LASER-logo-NEW-UCLA_150-border.jpg" border="0" align="left">The first <strong>UCLA LASER</strong> will take place 7 March 2013 at the California NanoSystems Institute presentation space. The topic for this meeting is <strong>Biotech + Art</strong>. Everyone invited will introduce their work in 3 minute pecha-kucha style presentation. This will be followed by drinks and food + socializing and making new connections. This event is FREE and open to the public. <h4>YONA FRIEDMAN’S IDEAS FOR SELF RELIANCE ON WWW</h4>
<p class="mainText">A website about the life and work of architect and Leonardo Honorary Editor <strong>Yona Friedman</strong> (b. 1923) has been published on the net. The website includes a biography, an extensive bibliography and well over 1,000 images, organized by themes and projects with brief introductions. The work of Yona Friedman is internationally known for his controversial thinking and reasoning. In the last 10 years his work regained worldwide attention through many publications and exhibitions and became object of study in the art sciences and sociology. <a href="http://www.yonafriedman.com">Find out more</a></p>
<h4>KOSMICA Paris 2013</h4>
<p class="mainText"><strong>KOSMICA</strong> is an international series of galactic gatherings for earth-bound artists, space engineers, performers, astronomers, musicians and anyone interested in exploring and sharing space in original ways. The free program on 17 March will focus on the work by different members of ITACCUS, a technical committee for the cultural utilizations of space within the IAF: Richard Clar, Roger Malina, Rob La Frenais, Daniela de Paulis. The KOSMICA series is curated by Nahum Mantra and The Arts Catalyst, and is endorsed by ITACCUS, the International Astronautical Federation's Committee on the Cultural Utilisation of Space. This event occurs before the annual ITACCUS meeting at the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), a worldwide federation of organisations active in space. <h4>Call for Submissions and Participation: Enter 6: Biopolis</h4>
<p class="mainText"><strong>Enter 6: Biopolis</strong> and the <strong><a href="http://catch.ciant.cz/forum">CATCH Forum</a></strong> will take place in Prague, Czech Republic, in April 2013. Event themes address questions about future of life, ethics of scientific intrusion into exclusivity of the nature, uncertainty of the division between natural and artificial, novel approaches in interaction between body and data. <h4>Call for Art-Science Residency Applications at IMERA in Marseille, France</h4>
<p class="mainText">The <strong>Art-Science program at IMERA</strong> is co directed by sociologist Samuel Bordreuil and Roger Malina. The program welcomes both artists who wish to collaborate with scientists, scientists who wish to collaborate with artists, or hybrid mixed art-science teams. IMéRA residence proposals are open to researchers (scientists outside Aix-Marseille University and artists) of all origins in terms of nationality and disciplines (the arts and humanities included). <h4>STEAM Petition to US House of Representatives</h4>
<p class="mainText">Colleagues in the USA interested in the developing STEM to STEAM movement may be interested in expressing their opinion to the U.S. House of Representatives. <h4>Art & Atoms Leonardo Podcast Available through MIT Press</h4>

<h4>Call for Submissions: 4th Leonardo Satellite Symposium at NetSci2013</h4>
<p class="mainText"><img src="http://www.leonardo.info/images/ArtsHumanities-2013_130-border.jpg" align="left" border="0">The deadline for submissions to the <strong>Arts, Humanities, and Complex Networks Symposium</strong> (Leonardo Satellite Symposium at NetSci2013) is coming soon! <strong>Submit your 300 word abstract by 31 March 2013</strong>. The overall mission of the symposium is to bring together pioneer work in the overlap of arts, humanities, network research, data science, and information design. NetSci2013 and the Arts, Humanities and Complex Networks Symposium will take place on 4 June 2013 at Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in Copenhagen. Mingle with leading researchers in complex network science, potentially sparking fruitful collaborations, while presenting and learning about the diversity of research contributions around networks in culture, networks in art, networks in the humanities, art about networks, and research in network visualization. <h4>The International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture at Justus-Liebig-Universitat Giessen Joins as Affiliate Member</h4>
<p class="mainText"><img src="http://www.leonardo.info/images/affiliates/logo_JLU-GCSC-border.jpg" align="left" border="0">Leonardo/ISAST welcomes <strong>The International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture</strong> at <strong>Justus-Liebig-Universitat Giessen</strong> (JLU GCSC) to the Leonardo Affiliate Program. The International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture offers a doctoral program tailored to the needs of PhD students, with an excellent research environment and the support students need to excel in their academic as well as non-academic careers. The GCSC’s academic framework reflects a pluralistic understanding of the study of culture. <h4>One, No One and One Hundred Thousand, Solo exhibition by Joana Ricou</h4>
<p class="mainText"><em>One, No One and One Hundred Thousand</em> proposes a scientific and artistic reading of the concept of memory developed by Portuguese artist Joana Ricou. Inspired by the title of the work of Luigi Pirandello (1867-1936), the artist explores the tension between the need for continuity and the natural state of multiplicity of the body and mind. Joana Ricou presents in this, her first solo exhibit in Portugal, new works from the series Multitudes and from the series HeLa cells searching, and the site-specific installation 60 kilos of Human Being. <h4>Opportunity: Advisory Professor</h4>
<p class="mainText">Part-time PhD/ Postdoc Supervisor at the I-Node of the Planetary Collegium, The Island of Kefalonia, Greece. The Supervisor will develop innovative policies aimed at defining the profile of the I-Node and at giving an impulse to the international character of the Planetary Collegium research programs. He or she will be an initiator in research reform projects based on transdisciplinarily towards the I-Node’s main research area on Syncretic Strategies towards Art, Science and Technology. <h4>Science Communications Residency 2013 at The Banff Center</h4>
<p class="mainText">Working with some of the world’s leading science communicators, participants will explore the creative use of words, images, action and technology, with the goal of fostering a more engaging role for science in public culture.
