<h4>Call for Submissions: Balance-Unbalance 2013</h4>
<p class="mainText"><img src="http://www.leonardo.info/images/Balance-Unbalance-logo-2013x200.jpg" align="left" border="0">Submissions are now being accepted for <strong>Balance-Unbalance 2013</strong>, an international conference to be held at Central Queensland University in Noosa, Australia, from 31 May–2 June 2013. Balance-Unbalance is organized by Ricardo Dal Farra and a team at the Noosa Biosphere (in partnership with UNESCO and international organizations including Leonardo/ISAST). Balance-Unbalance is designed to use art as a catalyst to explore <strong>intersections between nature, science, technology and society</strong> as we move into an era of both unprecedented ecological threats and transdisciplinary possibilities. <h4>Leonardo Call for Papers: Art & Atoms</h4>
<p class="mainText"><img src="http://leonardo.info/images/Art-and-Atoms_spiralx120.jpg" align="left" border="0">Chemistry’s unique connection to art—a science simultaneously steeped in abstraction and application, process and product—is the focus of the <strong>Art & Atoms</strong> special section, guest curated by chemist and Leonardo Board Member Tami Spector. We especially seek submissions related to topics on the cutting edge of chemistry, including nanoscience, synthetic biology, fuel cells and neurochemistry. <a href="http://www.leonardo.info/isast/journal/calls/artandatoms.html">Find out more</a></p>
<h4>Forthcoming: LMJ 22—Acoustics</h4>
<p class="mainText">Immersed as we are in electronically mediated sound, at the end of the day—whether it’s coming from ukuleles or earbuds—sound reaches us through acoustic pressure. The sheer physicality of sound, and its quirky interaction with our sense of hearing, has driven many a composer and sound artist to go back to the "year zero" in music—before the codification of melody, rhythm and harmony—and explore fundamental aspects of the physics and perception of sound. <strong>LMJ22 highlights writings on the role of acoustics and psychoacoustics in music and audio art</strong>. The issue includes a CD curated by Daniel James Wolf and an online supplement available to subscribers entitled "Alvin Lucier—A Celebration." <p class="mainText"><img src="http://www.leonardo.info/images/deepdyve_logo_180.jpg" align="left" border="0">The MIT Press Journals now offers <strong>low-cost article access</strong> through third party service <strong>Deep Dyve</strong>. Users can now rent articles published in <em>Leonardo</em>, <em>Leonardo Music Journal</em> and other MIT Press Journals for a limited, one-time use or extended use with special membership.
