<h4>YASMIN Discussion: Around Simulation</h4>
<p class="mainText">We extensively use and live in simulation. In our everyday life we imagine situations, events, projects and project them into the future. We simulate possible worlds and test them in a sort of permanent "what if" situation, which is continuously reworked and modified. This process has been methodologically formalized in the sciences, where we build models and simulations, which try to describe facts, events and phenomena. Models and simulations have a very important cognitive role in knowing and understanding the world we live in. The new format combines the features of a high-production-value art magazine with the scholarly rigor of an academic journal. <h4>Projects of Evolutionary Systems Group</h4>
<p class="mainText">Evolutionary Systems Group (ESG) is an interdisciplinary group of professors and researchers operating at the University of Calabria (Italy), directed by Pier Augusto Bertacchini, Eleonora Bilotta and Pietro Pantano. Among its interdisciplinary fields of research it can cite scientific visualization and digital art (especially of dynamical systems, like cellular automata and Chua's attractors). ESG uses artificial life models in artwork as a very stimulating and fascinating method in the research of new forms of digital art. In particular, using mathematical models of dynamical systems and appropriate code systems, the group creates different kinds of artistic depictions, especially chaotic forms derived from Chua's oscillator. <a href="http://www.leonardo.info/isast/classads.html">Find out more</a></p>
