<DIV class=RTE> I promised a 16-year-old girl living in Lebanon to distribute her message regarding her frustration about the war and what it is like to be living through this situation. I thought her writing was excellent given her age and she definitely deserves to be heard. She wrote her message in French and then translated it to English so some sentences might be malstructured but please focus on content. I am also attaching the original French text for reference.</DIV>

<DIV class=RTE><BR><BR><FONT face="Simplified Arabic Fixed">"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." <BR>Edmund Burke <BR><BR><BR>=> Don’t turn your back on this, because running away from reality doesn’t eliminate its atrocity. <BR><BR><BR>To the concerned and unconcerned people by what’s going on in Lebanon, <BR><BR>This is not a report, but a testimony. I am not just a sixteen year-old Lebanese girl, I’m more than this. I am a witness to all what occurs around me. Unfortunately for those who caused and carried out this war, I am not the only one. Thousands of other young people are so. Us, the young people that protested against the Syrian occupation and underwent the terror of their dictatorship, here we are once again facing a terrorist State, one year and half after having gotten rid of the old. <BR><BR>Once
more, we witness the assassination of Lebanon. It is what the <BR>Murderers want us to be: witnesses to the murder. But we won’t be. Because unfortunately for them Lebanon is immortal. All this is not more than an attempt. They can destroy our infrastructure. Bridges and roads, which cost millions of dollars of debt for the Lebanese and years of construction, break down without warning. We will have to rebuild everything from the beginning. But this doesn’t despair us. We are full with hope and force. We will rebuild all this, as our ancestors did it hundreds of times without ever despairing. <BR><BR><BR>They can also kill hundreds of innocent people. The majority of them are children. A child, whose single fault is to have been at the bad place in the bad time, is condemned to die in the most unworthy way. But
perhaps that’s not more than a bad luck? Maybe if his/her parents had followed the Israeli instructions (that told them to leave the place), this poor child would not be “shredded " like this. For that reason, the neighbour of this child decided to flee with his family. Since dawn, the children are awaked, terrorized by the sound of the bombardments. The violent movies, which one forbids the children to see, they see them on line, in reality, right under their eyes, the images were even more violent … Quickly! It is necessary to flee quickly. In pyjamas, the man, his wife, their children, and some of their neighbours (what makes in all 23 people), jump in a pick-up and flee their dwellings. Ouf! Here they are far away from the place, from the danger. The children did not figure out yet the images that they saw. Is this really a baby who was
crushed? A real? Are these people in scraps really our neighbours? The children hardly had time to ask themselves these questions because 2 seconds later they disappeared… just like their parents. A shell fell down in the happy medium of the pick-up. Their bodies " burst ", and the "pieces" of their corpses are dispersed tens of meters around. (What I just reported about this genocide is inspired from the testimony of a small girl of the village of marwa7in that survived by miracle. The girl is disfigured but perfectly aware of what occurred). Then, is this bad luck too? Perhaps they confused the heads of people with missiles. Or perhaps did the pick-up contain weapons for Hezbollah? Go ahead, give them another excuse, another pretext… They really miss some and they will be entirely grateful to your help. Enough excuses!
This " accident " (actually it is a crime) is not the only one that touched or rather aimed at the innocent people. You could think, " the end justifies the means ". Which end? Which means? The destruction of Lebanon, that’s it? That’s a good theory. But would it still good if the death of your family that way would be the means or the price to pay? In Lebanon, the survivors will never forget these violent images. <BR><BR><BR>But us, the young people, the witnesses, what do we feel exactly about these crimes? Revolted? No need, we already are by nature. Actually, we are ploughed up. A voluntary young person who committed herself into an association, which helps the victims, said; " [ … ] what’s going on is much more than what we can bear. Sometimes there is just one survivor of an entire family. How do they
want me to tell him/her that his/her entire family is death? How do they want me to tell him/her that nobody remains? " <BR>We should ask Olmert and Bush to announce to this poor woman that her husband and his five children died, completely crushed under the debris. Perhaps that by explaining to her that this war is against terrorism (her little children to are certainly very dangerous terrorists) or by telling her that the Security Council is really sorry, she will be just fine or at least feel better about what happened to her family. <BR>MORAL OF THESE CRIMES (since the hostilities ended, in principle…): It is not the revenge that we claim. Despite everything we refuse to be assassins. It is the justice that is necessary in this moment. UNO must clearly denounce these crimes and damned them, then judge the war criminals in front of an international penal
court. If not, those crimes will be committed over and over again… and the victims will perhaps be your children, our children… But this is the responsibility of the UNO and all of us also, since in fact the nations direct the UNO, and it is you who push your governments to react (in the case of democracy). In particular, the American people have the duty to prevent their government from using its veto in the Security Council against a resolution that damn and punish the Israeli (and Lebanese) war crimes (if ever a resolution were voted). Don’t do that to support the Lebanese people, just do it to support the justice. <BR><BR>And us, the Lebanese young people, how do you want us to respond to this injustice? We cannot repurchase these lost souls as we can do with the destroyed bridges or our polluted sea that is now such an oil slick. Each killed child is a
share of the future that they eliminate, a share of the hope. We cannot revive those children. In spite oh this, I can ensure you that we will revive their innocence which rejects any kind of injustice, as well as the hope and the future that they represent. <BR>We will be then the defendants of the justice in this world and the builders of the future that we will invent, and fight till the end so that nobody can impose it to us. <BR><BR>Lastly, we witness to the survival of the Lebanon-message of the pope John-Paul II; "Lebanon is more than a country, it is a message ". <BR>The message of conviviality will not disappear under the bombs of a State that has the complex of pluralism. As long as we, the young Lebanese people, preserve this energy, this force, this passion for justice and freedom, nobody will be able to eliminate Lebanon. <BR>All this war could not
even " wound " this message. This war is a persecution of the messengers. And it is neither the first war nor the first State that causes these sufferings to the Lebanese people. I reassure you, as long as there still exists on this earth a group of Lebanese, there’s absolutely no weapon that could prevent them from spreading the message, which before the Arab language and their Eastern habits, defines their origins: it is the message of conviviality, justice, peace, freedom… and the flame of hope, which despite everything, will never die out. <BR><BR><BR>Lebanesaly yours, <BR><BR>A Lebanese witness (who will never forget…). </FONT><BR></DIV></div></html>
