Dear friends,

As most of you know, Lebanon is going through a crucial period of its history. Now is the time to allow all Lebanese (whether living in Lebanon or not) to voice their opinion about the prevailing situation in our country.

We have set up an online opinion poll where people can express their position with respect to the presence of Syrian troops and intelligence services in Lebanon. Although such a poll cannot be as rigorous and democratic a process as a true vote, we consider that it can serve as an indicator of the will of the people.

The poll is mainly intended for Lebanese and people of Lebanese descent. But the questions have been organized in such a way as to allow any person interested in voting to do so.

The poll is available in four different languages: english, french, spanish, and portuguese. The addresses of the web pages are:

Poll in english:
http://websurveyor.net/wsb.dll/27342/freeLebanon.htm?renderlang=eng

Poll in french:
http://websurveyor.net/wsb.dll/27342/freeLebanon.htm?renderlang=fr

Poll in spanish:
http://websurveyor.net/wsb.dll/27342/freeLebanon.htm?renderlang=es

Poll in portuguese:
http://websurveyor.net/wsb.dll/27342/freeLebanon.htm?renderlang=po

Please copy and paste these addresses to your screen , they will open the poll.

Lebanese expatriates in several countries have already been informed of the poll. In turn, they have started informing their communities.

People will be allowed to vote until march 21, 2005 (voting has started on march 1, 2005). WE URGE YOU TO VOTE TODAY. The results of the poll will be compiled the next day, and published on the poll's web site. They will also be sent to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, to the members of the Security Council, to the European Parliament, to the Arab League, and to the media. (If we observe a high turnout in the coming days, we will consider renewing our contract with the company that is hosting our web page to allow more people to vote.)

So please vote and pass this message around. We need to reach as many people as possible.

Some people have refused to vote because they are scared of being identified. Please, don't be scared. The vote is ANONYMOUS.

Wishing you the best,
