What is the purpose of the system clock!

Does Kerberos use the system clock in any way to arrive at the random key to
see the token?

This question came up the other day and I am trying to find an answer for it
from an authority.

I know the system clocks need to be loosely synched in order to determine
the validity of the access tokens but I need an answer to this other
question.
