1. Shred IT Day, June 14

Are you a pack rat who can’t seem to get rid of old hard drives, flash drives, CDs, or digital tapes? Do you have mountains of unneeded documents that might contain sensitive data?

"The average worker in the U.S. generates 10,000 sheets of paper each year, paper that could eventually end up being the root of a costly security breach. If you are storing confidential data that is no longer needed, you could be at risk," according to the company Shred-it.

This is why Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) will host Shred IT Day<http://ist.mit.edu/shred-it-june-2016> on Tuesday, June 14, from 9am – 5pm on Student Street in MIT's Stata Center (Building 32)<http://whereis.mit.edu/?go=32> in conjunction with the IT Partners 2016 conference<https://wikis.mit.edu/confluence/display/ITPartners/IT+Partners+2016+Conference+-+Tuesday+June+14>.

2. Laptop Tagging & Registration, June 14

Laptop tagging and registration<http://ist.mit.edu/news/laptop_tagging> is a free service for MIT community members. It’s offered by IS&T, with the support of the MIT Police. The next laptop tagging event is on Tuesday, June 14, from 10am to 2pm in the Stata Center (in conjunction with the IT Partners 2016 Conference).

3. Duo Requirement Goes Into Effect on June 15

As a reminder, starting on Wednesday, June15, Duo two-factor authentication<http://ist.mit.edu/news/duo-students> will be required for all students accessing MIT systems, such as Stellar, Atlas, WebSIS, and other systems protected by Touchstone.

Enrollment is available for students now. IS&T strongly recommends enrolling before the deadline, so there are no issues accessing important systems. When the requirement goes into affect, students will be prompted to go to duo.mit.edu<http://duo.mit.edu> to set a device up as a second factor (such as a phone or hardware token).

If interested, there will be a presentation on Duo at the IT Partners 2016 Conference<https://wikis.mit.edu/confluence/display/ITPartners/IT+Partners+2016+Conference+-+Tuesday+June+14>, on Tuesday, June 14 in Stata.
