First off, it's really great to see people working on the platform and<BR>

schools that have picked up MIT Mobile Web and who are looking to<BR>

During the summer I used the MIT Mobile Web code to build out a mobile<BR>
website for West Virginia University and it's available at<BR>
<a href="http://m.wvu.edu/">http://m.wvu.edu/</a>. The code provided a great base. I've also released<BR>
the updates I've made to the code. Since I didn't really know if the<BR>
stuff on SourceForge was being monitored I ended up hosting the code<BR>
on GitHub at <a href="http://github.com/dmolsen/MIT-Mobile-Web/">http://github.com/dmolsen/MIT-Mobile-Web/</a> (note the<BR>
directions in the wiki are for the original code and not my updated<BR>
code. really need to get back to it and update that part.)<BR>

Here is a list of the main changes I've made. I'm more than happy to<BR>
discuss any of them in more depth:<BR>
<BR>
- broke out standard text into a config file for faster editing<BR>
- added support for sqlite<BR>
- added PHP-based device detection and dropped WURFL<BR>
- added a method to people and emergency to support sms interaction<BR>
via textmarks.com<BR>
- modified the rss lib so i could set the feed in the main sections<BR>
instead of in the lib<BR>
- the calendar now uses google calendar as a data source. we don't<BR>
have a web service or anything so i'm pushing .ics files to GC.<BR>
- the map now uses google maps api and google static maps api since<BR>
we didn't have a dynamic map or mapserver option<BR>
- we added the following sections: game day, hours (uses data from<BR>
the map), news, and youtube<BR>

I'm currently looking at implementing the following:<BR>
<BR>
- a shuttle schedule based on the Google Transit format since our<BR>
transportation group provides Google data in that format each week<BR>
- support for jQTouch for more dynamic interactions & caching on the iPhone<BR>
- proper support for phones like Android and Pre. right now i'm<BR>
lumping them into the smartphone category<BR>

I don't mean for what I've done to be a fork but maybe there's some<BR>
code that I've done that I can contribute back to the main repo once<BR>
that gets set-up. Again, really looking forward to participating in<BR>
the group and seeing what transpires.<BR>
