would begin September 1, 2017. This position continues the re-invigoration of the research potential of the STS Center at Drexel University, which included the successful recruitment of a new Director in 2011, an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor
in 2012, and an Assistant Professor in 2013. The position will be a joint appointment with the successful candidate’s appropriate disciplinary department (e.g. global studies, anthropology, history, political science, sociology, etc.)<o:p class=""></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Calibri; " class="">We are primarily interested in candidates who investigate </span><span style="font-family: Calibri; " class="">the social and political dimensions of information technologies and/or digital
infrastructures, especially as those relate to uneven distributions of power. Faculty expertise could, for example, be in the historical, cultural and political dimensions of the development and use of smart grids, patient health records, or digital media; issues
of privacy, surveillance and big data; changes in regulatory structures and policies related to information technologies; access to information technologies; and/or the identities and communities created in digital worlds. Although open to any areas of study,
we encourage scholars with an international or comparative focus to apply. Computing and society are central to Drexel's strategic plan, and the STS Center would like our new colleague to contribute to this area. We are especially interested in applicants
with grounding in the field of STS, and strong methodological skills (e.g., in-depth interviews, focus groups, archival research, fieldwork, GIS or statistics). Applicants' degrees could potentially be in science and technology studies, political science,
sociology, anthropology, history, or other relevant fields. We expect that this person's research and teaching, at both undergraduate and graduate levels, will contribute to the STS graduate program and the successful applicant’s disciplinary department, and
that our new colleague will participate in and initiate collaborations across the Schools, Colleges, and Centers at Drexel.<o:p class=""></o:p></span></div>
