Job begins August 26, 2013. <br><br>Preferred: Some research publications; 1 or 2 years teaching experience. <br><br>Area of specialization: history of technology that complements strengths in history of science and technology and related areas at the University.<br><br>Area of competence: ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in the history of technology. Candidates will be assessed according to overall academic preparation in the history of technology; the relevance of their research to the program's academic priorities and the field of inquiry; and evidence of commitment to teaching and skills as a teacher. This search is for a one-year temporary Visiting Assistant professor, but is open for possible appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level. The competitive salary includes full benefits. <br><br>Duties/Responsibilities: The Appointee will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Technology and American Culture (HSci 3331) and Ethics in Science and Technology (HSci 3401) (these two courses often have a small number of graduate students), plus an upper division course in the history of technology or science that would complement the existing course schedule (see<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><a href="http://www.hstm.umn.edu" style="color: purple; text-decoration: underline; ">www.hstm.umn.edu</a><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>).
