In the program, graduate women are mentored by faculty, alums, or Boston-area professionals. Mentorship can be sought in areas ranging from careers to more personal matters.<br>

Graduate women mentees are responsible for meeting with their mentor every month for a minimum of 1 hour and attending a beginning-of-term and end-of-year dinner. After one semester, you can choose to be rematched or leave the program, but we prefer for you to participate for the entire academic year so that you can build a strong relationship with your mentor.<br>

Join artist Kate Gilbert in a participatory workshop infusing tools of meditation with media imagery to create an accumulative work of art or artifact that represents a personal, balanced response to violent imagery. This workshop, the first in a three-part series will begin with guided meditation focused on finding ones inner voice. Once centered, participants will incorporate photojournalistic imagery to create a small 3D artifact, representative of the political or social concern of their choice. Participants will leave their artifact for the next workshop participants to use and are encouraged to attend each workshop to deepen their practice of defining self and activism in a media-saturated world.<br>

This workshop series will lead participants through the acceptance of violent imagery in media as a necessary catalyst for change, defining one’s response to violence and will culminate in a civically-engaged creative action. The List Visual Arts Center is pleased to offer a fellowship position to assist with all details in organizing a two-day symposium. The working topic for the 2018 Wasserman Forum will be Future Genders and looking at how gender identity is being addressed by artists today. The List Center is seeking a candidate that has a demonstrated interest in gender issues as they are presented through contemporary visual arts. The Wasserman Forum Assistant will work in conjunction with the List Center Staff in conceptualizing the panels for the Forum, and undertake organizational duties such as and not limited to speaker contracts, obtaining and editing speaker bios, handling travel needs, assisting in all aspects of hospitality for Forum participants, preparing press materials, coordinating volunteers for the Forum, and determining and ordering all amenities for the event. The Wasserman Forum Assistant will also be expected to be on hand for the entire duration of the forum planned for November 2018. This position will report to Emily Garner, Campus and Public Program Coordinator.<br>
<br>
This is a part-time one-year stipend position and not an MIT benefited employee. The hours of the position will gradually increase as the timeline approaches the date of the event.<br>

<strong>Job Requirements</strong><br>
Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree in art history, women’s and gender studies, or a related field with a preference of being enrolled in a graduate degree program. Applicants also must be authorized to work in the US.<br>

The J-WAFS Grant for Water and Food Projects in India is a funding opportunity for current members of the MIT community interested in addressing a water or food challenge in India. Up to three grants, totaling $15,000, will be awarded. The grants are intended to further work being pursued by individuals as part of their MIT research, innovation & entrepreneurship initiatives, coursework, or related activities, or support a relevant new activity.<br>
<br>
The grant is for development projects or projects benefiting low-income populations. Examples of relevant challenges may include but are not limited to:<br>
- Economically appropriate water purification technologies, esp. for rural areas<br>
- Water distribution and management strategies, esp. for rural areas<br>
- Other water quality issues, e.g. sanitation, monitoring, etc.<br>
- Food safety issues<br>
- Food preservation and waste reduction<br>
- Water for agriculture, especially smallholder farms<br>
- Agricultural innovations and improvements<br>
